March Gardening Tips
Things to do:
- Check garden for slugs and snails.
- Check oak trees for moth larvae (spray with bacillus thuringiensis)
- Potatoes (plant from roots or sets and should also may need to be protected); because of potential severe insect damage in early season, keep flats and seedling containers in a safe place, and then transplant in early May
- Strawberry sets (may need protected)
Start in Flats Mid-Month: broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, swiss chard, chives, collards, eggplant, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, onions, parsley, peas, peppers, tomatoes.
